Beyond our walls

Sharing smiles in Chocó, Colombia

After the earthquake in Chocó, Colombia, a team from Superhero Kids PPEC spent a day with the children there. New shoes, new toys, pizza they made with their own hands, and a lot of laughing.

For us, the most meaningful part wasn't what we brought. It was what we experienced.

Why we went

When we started Superhero Kids PPEC in Boynton Beach, we envisioned more than a medical day center. We wanted to build a place where children with complex medical needs could receive exceptional care while experiencing the joy, imagination, and excitement every childhood deserves.

That belief has never stopped at our front door. Our passion for making a difference in children's lives has always extended beyond the walls of our facility. We believe every child deserves to experience happiness, love, and the simple joys of childhood, regardless of their circumstances or where they call home.

On August 10, 2026, a 7.4 earthquake shook Chocó, on Colombia's Pacific coast 12. We had the incredible opportunity to bring our mission to life there, in a community impacted by that earthquake.

A friend who knew the way

What made this experience even more special was the opportunity to work with one of our former Alternate Directors of Nursing, who had returned to her home country of Colombia. Together, we organized a special day dedicated to bringing happiness, excitement, and unforgettable memories to the children of the community.

Sharing smiles

Our shirts that day said "Compartiendo sonrisas", Spanish for "sharing smiles".

We were able to sponsor the children with new shoes, clothing, and toys. But we wanted to give them something beyond material gifts. We wanted to create an experience they would remember.

Pizza, made with their own hands

We brought pizza ovens directly into the community, giving the children the opportunity to make their own pizzas and enjoy them freshly baked.

A day full of laughing

The day was filled with delicious desserts, popcorn, soccer games, dancing, laughter, and countless smiles.

Everyone wanted to be in the picture.
Big smiles all around.

What they gave us

Seeing the excitement in the children's eyes, hearing their laughter, and witnessing the pure joy that filled the day was something words can hardly describe. It was a powerful reminder that sometimes the simplest moments can leave the greatest impact.

While we traveled to Colombia hoping to make a difference in these children's lives, we returned feeling that they had made an equally meaningful difference in ours.

The same reason we open our doors every morning

This experience reinforced something we've always believed at Superhero Kids: making a difference isn't limited to the care we provide or the place we call home. It's about recognizing opportunities to bring kindness, compassion, and happiness wherever we can.

The name Superhero Kids was chosen with purpose. To us, it represents strength, courage, resilience, and limitless possibilities. We believe every child has extraordinary potential, regardless of the challenges they may face.

In Chocó, we saw it in a street full of children. In Boynton Beach, we see it every day.

Our trip to Colombia was more than a day of giving. It was a day of connection, shared experiences, and memories that will stay with us forever.

All together in Chocó.

This is only the beginning

We hope to continue creating opportunities like this, reaching more children, supporting more communities, and spreading the same love and compassion that inspired us to create Superhero Kids PPEC.

Because every child deserves a reason to smile, every childhood deserves moments of magic, and every little superhero deserves to feel special.
